Facts about heel

Several History That People Need To Know

a) Heel Story

heel is the projection at the back of a shoe which rests below the heel bone. The shoe heel is used to improve the balance of the shoe, increase the height of the wearer, alter posture or other decorative purposes. Sometimes raised, the high heel is common to a form of shoe often worn by women, but sometimes by men too. See also stiletto heel.

Although high heeled shoes are depicted in ancient Egyptian murals on tombs and temples, the earliest recorded instance of men or women wearing an elevated shoe comes from ancient Persian riders.
It has been commonly stated that the first instance of the wear of high heels involved the 1533 marriage between Catherine de' Medici with the Duke of Orleans. She wore heels made in Florence for her wedding, and as a result, Italian high heels became the norm for ladies of the Duke's court in France. Unfortunately, this reference may be apocryphal, as the development of heels did not begin to come about until the late 1580s, based on iconographic evidence and extant pieces.
Mary Tudor, another short monarch, wore heels as high as possible. From this period until the early 19th century, high heels were frequently in vogue for both sexes.
Around 1660, a shoemaker named Nicholas Lestage designed high heeled shoes for Louis XIV. Some were more than four inches (ten cm), and most were decorated in various battle scenes. The resulting high "Louis heels" subsequently became fashionable for ladies. Today the term is used to refer to heels with a concave curve and outward taper at the bottom similar to those worn by Madame de PompadourLouis XV's mistress. (They are also sometimes called "Pompadour heels".)
Since the French Revolution (1789-1799) the trend wearing high heels was ended to avoid any associating with the old aristocracy and it's opulence. Since people wished to avoid the appearance of wealth, heels were largely eliminated from the common market for both men and women and replace by casual fashion and shoe wear. From the beginning of the Baroque the heel came back to shoes.

Male wear

Although high-heeled shoes or boots have more often been worn by women, in various times and places they have been standard features of men's footwear too, either for practical reasons or as fashionable items.

Mongolian horsemen were among the first to use heels as means to keep their feet from sliding out of their stirrups. It is also well known that Egyptian butchers wore high heels so they would not step directly in offal. Pharaohs and nobles in Ancient Egypt would wear high heels to show power and for ceremonial purposes.
Actors playing tragic roles in ancient Greek drama wore the buskin, a boot with a platform sole, designed to give them greater height over other actors.
The Romans, both men and women, wore cothurns, or sandals with platform heels; these were intended to lift the wearers above mud and garbage in the streets.Geta, which are based on a similar concept, are still used in Japan today.
American cowboy boots, first developed in the 19th century and still popular today in some parts of the United States, have high underslung heels to keep a rider's foot from sliding through the stirrup.
High-heeled platform shoes were a widely popular form of men's footwear during the 1970s.

How to Walk in High Heels
I've received a lot of emails  walking in heels, so I thought I'd write an article about it to demystify it a bit. But hear this .. just learning to walk in heels is Something That Takes lots of practice, and it's not something you can learn just by reading an article!said, here are my top tips on how to walk in heels. With practice, you'll be strutting like a pro in the highest heels! You can watch at you tube below:

Begin to start . If you've never walked in high heels before, you can do not start out with 5 inch stilettos learning - that's a recipe for pain and maybe even injury! Try something easy, like a 2 inch heel or wedge to get used to the feeling. You can always work your way up to your MOST killer heels.

Walk heel to toe, heel to toe not. While it Might be tempting to put your whole foot down at once, do not do it - It Makes your walk look strange when you 're wearing high shoes. Instead, put your heel down first, followed by your toe. This will give you more balance and make your stride look more natural. Take small steps. Makes Wearing heels naturally shorter your stride, so you'll need to take more steps than usual. Do not expect to be Able to walk as fast as you normally do in high heels.
Step as if You Were walking on a straight line. When you walk with one foot in front of the other, it Gives your hips sway That the models are Known for. Pretend you're walking on a line on the ground, one foot in front of the other, or practice on an actual straight line at a basketball court or on a line in the floor.
Watch how models do it. Download a video of a fashion show on You Tube and watch the professionals in Their high heels strut. While models walk the runway in a way that's exaggerated from real life, you can learn from Their walks and tone it down a little to get the perfect regular-person strut. Practice in front of a mirror Until you get it down.

Practice ... Then practice some more. At the end of the day, the best way to Become a pro at walking in high heels is to do it as Often as possible. Practice walking on carpet, slippery floors, up stairs, and outside. No amount of reading how to do it will make a difference if you do not work at it. Walking in high heels is like any other skill - you need to do it a lot to get good at it.

No Pain, No Gain

no-pain-no-gain-high-heels-can-lead-to-a-dozen-foot-and-leg-injuries

High Heels Can Lead To A Dozen Foot And Leg Injuries

Yes, those heels are killer, but they may be killing you much more than you think! I know they look fabulous, but sometimes we find them to feel like masochistic torture tools and many podiatrists will insist they are.

Many statistics show that high heels are one of the biggest factors attributing to foot problems in women. Up to one-third are suffering from permanent problems as a result of prolonged wear. Most people generally assume that high heels are dangerous; we get this when we see barefooted women walking slowly black stilettos in hand. Emerging research, however, is showing that there is a lot happening beneath the surface that we do not know about. Muscle groups, tendons, and our bones are put at risk each time you strap them on.

Wearing heels can cause inflammation of the connective tissue at the bottom of the foot. This can result in oral anti-inflammatory, steroids, colorist injections, walking boots, and even crutches. Is fashion really worth your feet? A study done in 2012 revealed that among women in their 20’s high heels had already changed their normal gait, even when they were not wearing the shoes. More frequent heel wearers had shorter calf muscles compared to the control group, who rarely wore heels, putting stress on the muscles with every single step heel or no heel.

The damage is not only occurring in the foot, but in your legs as well! A high heel alter your very posture, displaces ankle bones, puts strain on the knee joint, and tightens the surrounding tendons. Most people are dressing to impress when they put on those beautiful shoes, but not many think about the health of their feet and legs. There are consequences, is your health not more important than your looks?
